Nearly 100 National Life Group employees took time away from work on Friday to clean up trash, plant gardens, and spruce up trails.
The work was part of the company’s Volunteer Day, planned in conjunction with the Vermont’s annual Green Up Day to beautify roadsides each spring.
Many National Life Group volunteers worked on Green Up Day roadside projects. But many also fanned out to other nonprofits across central and northern Vermont to offer their labor.
“This is just one of the many ways that we put our corporate values into practice and Do Good with and for our neighbors,” said Mehran Assadi, president and CEO of National Life Group. “This has been a high-profile activity. But we practice the same ethic each and every day.”
National Life Group offers its employees up to 40 hours of paid time each year to volunteer at nonprofit agencies. The agencies that benefited on Friday included the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, the Central Vermont Humane Society, Vermont Foodbank, Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice, the Intervale Society, Montpelier Senior Center, Youth Service Bureau, Cancer Treatment Center at Central Vermont Medical Society, and Studio Place Arts.
The companies of National Life Group offer a broad range of financial products and services through agents and representatives in all 50 states. National Life Group has home offices in Montpelier, VT and Dallas, TX.
