Marcia Perry honored with NMC Community Service Award

Marcia Perry was awarded this year’s NMC Community Service award at an Incorporator’s meeting at the hospital, Monday May 12.

Perry was honored in appreciation of her passion for ensuring the availability of appropriate, affordable health care for all, as well as her strong belief that education is a stepping stone out of poverty. She becomes the second recipient of the NMC Community Service award, which was established by NMC’s Board of Directors to recognize an individual or organization residing in Franklin or Grand Isle Counties who exhibits enthusiasm, integrity, and perseverance beyond the ordinary to help fellow citizens and the community through selfless giving to improve the overall health of the community—be it money, talent, or time.

NMC Board President John Hango outlined the many contributions Perry has made to our community at the meeting. Perry is the President of the Board of the Northern Tier Centers for Health (NOTCH) and has led efforts to improve access to primary care – first through the creation of the Richford Health Center and then through its evolution into NOTCH with offices throughout Franklin and Grand Isle Counties.

She has also made many other contributions including managing the volunteer ambulance service, developing an affordable housing corporation and establishing the Richford Day Camp for children.

“It gives me great pleasure to present this award to a valued community partner and a wonderful person,” Hango said at the meeting. Perry was presented with a cut-glass maple leaf award, and her name was inscribed on a plaque in NMC’s Conference Center.
