Erica Scott, Lamoille Hospice

Lamoille Home Health & Hospice announces that Kathy Demars, Executive Director will retire after more than 30 years of dedicated service to the organization. Her tenure has been marked by unwavering commitment, compassionate leadership, and a deep devotion to the mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered care to the communities Lamoille Home Health & Hospice serves. Beginning May 4, Erica Scott assumed responsibility for the organization’s day-to-day leadership. Demars will remain with Lamoille Home Health & Hospice through the end of May to provide guidance, continuity, and support to ensure a smooth transition.

Scott brings strong experience, deep institutional knowledge, and a clear commitment to the organization’s mission. She has demonstrated appreciation for every role within the organization—from frontline caregivers to operational, coordination, and administrative staff— and their collective impact on patients and families. “The Board is confident in Erica’s ability to lead the organization while supporting the dedicated team that makes this critical work possible,” said the Board of Directors. Demars echoed that confidence, stating, “Erica knows this organization, our staff, and our community. I am grateful to support her during this transition, and I am excited for what lies ahead.”

Lamoille Home Health & Hospice invites staff, partners, and community members to join in congratulating Erica Scott as she steps into her new role and to extend heartfelt thanks to Kathy Demars for more than three decades of exemplary service.

Since 1971, Lamoille Home Health & Hospice has been providing high-quality home health, rehabilitative therapies, long-term care, palliative care, and hospice services to residents of Lamoille County. Our mission is to support health, independence, and dignity by delivering compassionate, skilled, and supportive care that helps individuals remain safe in the comfort of their own home.

“This organization has been part of my heart and my identity for more than 30 years, and the thought of stepping away brings a mix of gratitude, pride, and more than a little emotion,” Demars said. “I truly love this place—the mission, the work we do, and most of all, the people who make it possible.”

Throughout her leadership, Demars guided the organization through decades of growth and change, including evolving healthcare regulations, staffing challenges, a cyber-attack, and the unprecedented demands of a global pandemic. Alongside these challenges, she also shared in the joys and sorrows that come with a close-knit work family—celebrating marriages and births and mourning the loss of colleagues and loved ones. “Through it all, this team has shown extraordinary resilience, strength, and compassion,” Demars added. “You are the reason this organization is what it is.”

As Demars steps into retirement, she expressed confidence and pride in the organization’s future. “After three decades, I know it’s time for the next generation of leadership to take the reins. You have been my greatest professional joy, and I will forever be proud of the impact we’ve made together.”
