The Vermont Foodbank is pleased to announce the promotion of Nicole Whalen to the position of Director of Communications and Public Affairs. Nicole has worn multiple hats for the Vermont Foodbank since joining the team in 2014, including the position of Volunteer Coordinator and most recently, Marketing and Promotions Manager. During this time she helped grow the volunteer program to meet the needs of the Foodbank’s statewide charitable food distribution and built partnerships with community groups and businesses to raise funds through events and promotions.

Nicole became familiar with the Vermont Foodbank while serving for 2 years as an AmeriCorps VISTA at one of the Foodbank’s network partners, the Farm at the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. While there, she worked on an agricultural education and food security program called the Health Care Share. Nicole is passionate about ending hunger and creating a community where all can thrive. She earned her BA at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, studying Anthropology, Spanish and Chinese. Her fascination with community systems and the way people communicate drive her work.
