VAMHAR honors two UVM faculty with Lifetime Achievement Awards

Dr. Daniel Wolfson, associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Vermont, and Richard Rawson, research professor at UVM's Vermont Center on Behavior and Health, have received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Vermont Association for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery.

Wolfson, who also serves as medical director of the state’s emergency medical services, was recognized for his "extraordinary contributions" to integrated recovery services and mental health care over a distinguished career spanning more than three decades.

“Dr. Wolfson’s lifelong commitment to enhancing integrated recovery services is truly inspiring,” said VAMHAR Executive Director Daniel Franklin. “His visionary leadership and tireless dedication have left an indelible mark on the field, and it is our distinct honor to recognize all that he has done throughout his life and career to serve Vermont and serve others.”

Wolfson, who also serves as professor emeritus in the department of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at the University of California at Los Angeles, was honored for his "extensive contributions to addiction research, treatment and policy development.”

“Dr. Rawson’s unwavering commitment to addiction research and treatment has helped to
transform countless lives,” Franklin said. “His innovative approaches and dedication to evidence-based practices have set new standards in the field. We are truly honored to recognize his lifetime of contributions.”
