Two UVM faculty recognized for excellence in online teaching

University of Vermont faculty members Arby Ghemari and Lizzy Pope have been named recipients of the school's 2023 Prelock Online Teaching Award, celebrating superior online asynchronous and synchronous instruction.

Ghemari, a lecturer of education for cultural and linguistic diversity, was honored for his asynchronous course Language Policy Issues, Race and School in the College of Education and Social Services. He was cited for introducing a global perspective in the course by lecturing on the topic of privilege in Singapore.

Pope, associate professor and director of the didactic program in dietetics, was honored for her synchronous course Fundamentals of Nutrition. She was credited for her commitment to accessibility and inclusivity and building a strong sense of community and connection among her students.
