Stern Center hires new Professional Learning Provider

The Stern Center for Language and Learning in Williston, VT recently hired Dr Ben Williams as their newest Professional Learning Provider. For more than 10 years, Dr Williams has specialized in the area of trauma informed practices from both an educational and public health perspective. He has worked at a variety of universities, colleges, academies, and learning centers throughout Vermont, Ohio, Maine, and Massachusetts. Over the years he has held many titles, including Program Director, Professor, and State Licensure Coordinator. Dr Williams has researched and published articles on poverty informed rural educational practices and has served on a number of boards and planning committees pertaining to education. He is currently a Co-Chair of the Vermont Council of Teacher Educators.

His knowledge of trauma informed practices will help teachers address the needs that students have in order to participate in social and academic endeavors in an environment designed to optimize learning” remarked Janna Osman, Vice President for Advanced Learning. At the Stern Center, Williams will be responsible for responding to the needs present in so many of our schools, classrooms, and within the community where students are in crisis. Ben will be teaching courses and working directly in schools as teachers engage in action research to promote positive outcomes for all students.

Dr Williams received his BA from Hobart College, his MS from Lesley University, and his EdD. in Teaching, Curriculum and Learning Environments from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
