Ken and Gail Albert of Shelburne Vineyard are heading to California for the 8th Annual Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival (April 9 – 12) where their award-winning 2012 Marquette Reserve will be sampled and discussed during blogger/author/humorist Dan Dunn's seminar and reading of American Wino: A Story of Reds, Whites and One Writer’s Blues on the Winey Road to Redemption (HarperCollins), a new book recounting his 3-month “oenophilic odyssey” through 50 states last summer. Dunn selected Shelburne Vineyard’s Reserve as one of only 8 wines he’ll sample. Dunn, a former Playboy columnist and freelance joke writer for Saturday Night Live is now best known for his books and musings on wine including Living Loaded: Tales of Sex, Salvation and the Pursuit of the Never-Ending Happy Hour, and for his Food Republic column where he writes and tweets as @TheImbiber. Shelburne Vineyard was founded in 1998 by Ken Albert and sustainably grows 17 acres of cold-hardy grapes including the Marquette in Shelburne and nearby Charlotte VT. A Shelburne Vineyard Marquette, culminating with the 2012 Marquette Reserve, has been named "Best Red Wine in Show" for the last four consecutive years at the International Cold Climate Wine Competition.
Presented by Food & Wine magazine, the Pebble Beach Festival is amongst the premiere epicurean lifestyle celebrations. Widely considered “the Las Vegas of food events” its exquisite location on the California coast complete with celebrity sightings, plus fabulous food from celebrity chefs paired with top wines from producers in the nation’s top wine-making regions, makes it a must attend for gastronomes everywhere.
