Rutland student named finalist in UVM business competition

Pippa Scott

Pippa Scott, a student at Killington Mountain School in Rutland, has been named one of five finalists in the University of Vermont's inaugural Vermont Pitch Challenge, a new entrepreneurial-focused competition that gives high school sophomores, juniors and seniors from across the world a chance to win a full-tuition scholarship to UVM by pitching innovative business plans that create a positive impact.

Scott's submission, "Ride for Mental Health," would provide an outlet of support through action sports for kids struggling with mental health issues.

Nearly 150 students or teams of students from seven countries and 27 U.S. states submitted their business plans for consideration. They will pitch their plans in person at UVM on April 4, where winners will be ranked from first to fifth place. The first-place team members will each receive a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Vermont, contingent upon admission.
