NASDA joins as Secretary Perdue rings opening bell of New York Stock Exchange

Vermont Secretary of Agriculture Anson Tebbetts and National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Executive Director of Public Policy Nathan Bowen attended the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange today with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue. Secretary Perdue invited several key associations to the closing bell including representatives from the National Corn Growers Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and the National FFA Organization. Secretary Tebbetts serves as Vice Chair of NASDA’s Animal Agriculture Committee.

“It is an honor to join Secretary Perdue today at the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange as we celebrate agriculture’s $302.5 billion impact on the U.S. economy. America’s agriculture and food sectors account for one in five jobs in the U.S. and power our economy from Wall Street to Main Street,” said Bowen. “We thank Secretary Perdue for the invitation and for our partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the advancement of American agriculture.”

NASDA represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries, and directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories. NASDA grows and enhances agriculture by forging partnerships and creating consensus to achieve sound policy outcomes between state departments of agriculture, the federal government, and stakeholders.
