Middlebury Inn hires new chef and introduces new look and menu to Morgan’s Tavern

The Middlebury Inn is pleased to announce the hiring in late November of Phil Gaulin as the Executive Chef. Chef Gaulin comes from Greenville, South Carolina, where he was the Executive Sous Chef at the Westin Poinsett, a 200 room historic property in downtown Greenville. Prior to that he worked for 5 years on Kiawah Island for the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. He is a graduate of the well respected culinary program at Johnson and Wales in Charleston, South Carolina.

In conjunction with the hiring of Chef Gaulin, the Middlebury Inn is undergoing a renovation of Morgan’s Tavern, the on site restaurant. “We’re excited that Chef Gaulin has joined our team and expect to introduce a new menu as well as the Tavern’s new look around April 1st”, states Geoff Conrad the General Manager.

This year, the Middlebury Inn is celebrating its 185th year on the green in downtown Middlebury. This grand old Inn has been welcoming travelers and diners since the early 1800’s and is a member of Historic Hotels of America, a Preferred Hotel. The Inn has 71 guestrooms, Morgan’s Tavern restaurant and bar as well as three banquet rooms accommodating up to 170 people for meetings, banquets and Weddings.
