Tricia N. Hayes has been named Public Information Officer for the Town of Manchester’s Roundabout Project effective April 1, 2012. The 18-month appointment will provide residents and travelers with up-to-date information on the construction progress at the intersection of Routes 11/30, 7A and 30.

In announcing the appointment, John O’Keefe, Manchester‘s town manager said “In our in-depth selection process we evaluated candidates for their specific job related skills, knowledge of the community and ability to communicate effectively. Tricia Hayes brings a wealth of experience and public relations expertise to the position.” Hayes will be a part-time employee of the town. The position is being funded through the Federal funds earmarked in the construction project with an office located at the construction site.

The roundabout project is designed to alleviate pedestrian and vehicular traffic delays in the area known as Malfunction Junction. As he said “it is important for our businesses and residents to resolve the problems of traffic flow to allow for growth and enhanced safety in the area. By beginning the construction phase of this project now, we will be well-positioned for future success.”

Among the duties of the Public Information Officer will be timely updates on construction progress, communication with businesses, civic organizations, schools and churches and an extensive media program. News briefings, GNAT-TV programming, newspaper articles and attendance at public meetings in Manchester and surrounding towns will be scheduled.

Hayes has been a resident of Manchester for more than three decades. She has worked extensively with businesses and non-profit organizations on marketing initiatives.
