Green Mountain Council Scouting Family are thrilled to announce that David “Dave” McAllister of Morrisville, Vermont, has been selected by the National Court of Honor as a member of the Silver Antelope Class of 2026. The Silver Antelope Award, created in 1942, is the Council Service Territory level distinguished award of Scouting America and recognizes registered Scouters of exceptional character for their distinguished service to youth. Dave will be honored at Scouting America’s National Annual Meeting Luncheon on Wednesday, May 13, in Dallas, Texas.
Dave’s Scouting journey began as a Cub Scout in Pack 876, where he earned the Arrow of Light before joining Troop 876 and ultimately achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Over the decades that followed, he has served in nearly every volunteer capacity imaginable—Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Tiger Den Leader, Roundtable Commissioner, District Activities Chair, Council President, Council Commissioner, and currently as Vice President of Youth Programs for the Green Mountain Council. His dedication to leadership development runs just as deep, with decades of service on Wood Badge staff, NYLT, and JLTC, and as Chancellor of the Area 3 College of Commissioner Science.
Dave’s impact reaches well beyond Vermont. He has led contingents to Philmont, advised at NOAC, and served on seven National Jamboree staffs. His exceptional service has earned him recognition at every level, including the Silver Beaver, Vigil Honor, District Award of Merit, Scoutmaster’s Key, and the Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award. He has recently been named President-Elect for Council Service Territory 10 and will serve as Vice Chief for Subcamp Charlie 3 at the 2026 National Jamboree—further testament to the confidence and respect he has earned across the Scouting movement.
Beyond Scouting, Dave serves as CEO of Laraway Youth and Family Services, where he has spent over 23 years supporting Vermont youth and families. His civic leadership extends to roles with the Vermont Coalition of Residential Providers, Healthy Lamoille Valley Steering Team, the Elmore-Morristown School Board, Rotary, and Freemasonry.

Please join us in congratulating Dave—along with his wife, Kristi, and their four children, Ella, Bayden, Brody, and Emberly, all of whom are active in Scouting—on this extraordinary and well-deserved honor.
His cheerful spirit, servant leadership, and unwavering belief in the potential of young people have enriched the lives of countless Scouts, leaders, and families across our council and beyond. It is fitting that Scouting is truly a family affair for the McAllisters.
Yours in Scouting,
