Gifford Health Care honors four team members for exceptionalism

Gifford Health Care recently honored Matthew Shangraw, Erica Schleif, Thomas Davidson and Julia Cook with 2024 Employee Recognition Awards for exhibiting compassion and excellence in clinical care.

Shangraw, a registered nurse in the emergency department, received the Daisy Award for exceptional nursing. Schleif, a licensed clinical mental health counselor with the behavioral health team, won the Hive Award for impacting the lives of vulnerable people. And Davidson, of nutrition and food services. and Cook, of the obstetrics, gynecology and midwifery team, were given Bee Awards for everyday exceptionalism.

“We are reminded daily of how special our team is and of the positive difference they make through their compassionate service and care, not only in their patients’ lives, and for their families, but also in the lives of their colleagues,” said Gifford President and CEO Dan Bennett. “Congratulations to our awardees and all who were nominated. They pour their heart and soul into Gifford’s mission, and we are grateful.”

More than 70 employees were nominated for awards, which expanded on and encompassed the principles of the national DAISY nursing award program. Shangraw was nominated by nursing student Kayla Thompson; Schleif by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joshua White; Davidson by William Turinetti; and Cook by Jennifer Celley.
