The Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District (CVSWMD) is pleased to announce that Lisa Liotta has been hired as its new General Manager. Liotta comes with over 25 years in business management as CVSWMD’s former ARCC Operations Manager, a Park Manager with Vermont State Parks, and lead business and analyst roles as an independent consultant and in private industry.
Liotta is replacing former CVSWMD General Manager Cathleen Gent, who is retiring in April.
CVSWMD Board Chair Fred Thumm expressed congratulations and appreciation to both Gent and Liotta, while also welcoming Liotta into her new position at the district. “We’ve seen what Lisa can accomplish at the ARCC, and are confident that she will competently lead the district as its General Manager,” he said.
Liotta’s diverse background includes being a Food Systems Analyst managing purchasing and distribution for up to 330 chain restaurants; Co-owner and Controller for RT Industries, a precision aircraft component machine shop; as well as Lead Wholesale Buyer for Food Services of America, Inc. She has a BS in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont, and an Associate’s Degree in Environmental Science from the Community College of Vermont. She also acquired 45 Accounting and Business Administration credits from Seattle Community Colleges.
Outgoing General Manager Cathleen Gent is staying on as an Advisor until her full retirement in April in order to ensure a smooth transition.
CVSWMD is a 19-member union municipality with a mission to provide “leadership, education and services for residents and businesses in reducing and managing their solid waste, with a vision for working toward a zero waste community by reducing waste.” All of CVSWMD’s programs work toward its mission and goals.
