Communications specialist joins Saint Michael's College admission office staff

Jeremy Brown, former member services manager for the Opportunities Credit Union of Burlington, joined the Saint Michael's College admission office staff on Feb. 8, as assistant director of admission. Brown will work in all areas of student recruitment with particular focus on communications.

“The Edmundite tradition at Saint Michael’s with focus on social justice really appealed to me,” Brown said, “as did the college’s local and regional reputation.” With his professional background in social justice and in work with disadvantaged populations, he said, “I look forward to introducing young people to those areas.”

“My ability to build relationships and my ideal of advancing higher education through relationship building really attracted me to this job,” Brown said, explaining also that his father has worked in the admission profession for 30 years, “and was ecstatic about my taking this job.”

Brown worked at Opportunities Credit Union from 2004 to 2010; at YouthBuild Burlington from 2002 to 2004, where he was a case manager and life-skills instructor. He has done volunteer work and served on boards continuously in the Burlington area from 2004 to the present, with such organizations as the Housing Resource Center, COTS, SDA Kinship International, Vermont CARES, and Imani Health Institute.

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree from Walla Walla College in College Place, Washington, in Spanish with a minor in communications. He spent a year in Argentina in a language.
