Two Vermont residents were elected to the executive board of the Northeast District Chapter of PEO, a philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting, motivating and celebrating the advancement of women through education, at the group's May 7 convention in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Barbara Rainville (pictured), of Lincoln, was elected president of the board, and Jeanine Hoyenski, of Burlington, was elected treasurer. Rainville is a trade show coordinator and marketing manager for Maple Landmark, a toy and game manufacturer in Middlebury.
Since its inception in 1869, the nonprofit organization has helped more than 119,000 women pursue educational goals by providing over $398 million in grants, scholarships, awards and loans. The sisterhood also owns and supports Cottey College in Iowa.
The Northeast District comprises the New England states of Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
