St Michael’s names William Keys web content management specialist

William G. Keys Jr. joined the Saint Michael's College IT (information technology) department, with links to the marketing department, last month, as a web content management specialist, bringing his skills to the college’s development of a new website.

Bill Keys completed a master’s degree in computer science from Marist College in December 2010, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Plattsburgh State University in December 2006.

“My goal is for Saint Michael's College to have a site re-design that I’m proud of,” Mr. Keys said. “I was especially attracted to working at Saint Michael's because of the commitment here to community service,” he said.

Mr. Keys is charged with developing enhanced technology for the new SMC website to support enhanced design, all currently in production.

Mr. Keys was a software developer and system administrator for Guardian Digital in Allendale, N.J., from 2007 to 2009, where he managed development, testing and maintenance of three corporate websites. His work there also involved redesign and strategies to increase ad revenue through SEO (search engine optimization).

He is co-author of two articles: “Recipe for a Secure Server,” Linux + DVD Magazine (March 2007), and “Demystifying the Power of SELinux,” Haking Magazine (May 2007).

Mr. Keys also did a network administrator internship at Plattsburgh State (fall 2006), and a software development internship at LTech in Bridgewater, N.J., July to September 2010. At LTech he developed the means to deploy Google documents through APIs to Google’s App Engine enterprise cloud service.
