Middlebury – Eastview elects new officers at annual meeting

EastView at Middlebury, the senior living community, held its annual board meeting on June 16th. A large group of residents, staff, and friends enjoyed a breakfast reception and presentations from the Board of Directors, the Management Team, and the Resident Council in EastView’s Terrace Dining Room. The Board elected the following officers for the upcoming year.

Gus Jordan was elected Chair of the EastView Board. Gus has been at Middlebury College since 1996. He has taught clinically oriented courses in the department of psychology and serves as executive director of health services, counseling, and sports medicine at the College. Gus is a licensed psychologist in the State of Vermont and has published on topics ranging from academic dishonesty and professional ethics to family structure and its relation to depression in children. He received his BA in psychology from Emory University, his MDiv from Yale University, and his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Notre Dame.

John Myhre was re-elected Vice Chair of the EastView Board of Directors. John is Vice President of Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. His prior civic contributions include being a local business owner, a Select Board and Planning Commission member, and Board Chair of both Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center and Porter Medical Center. John is a Middlebury College graduate and holder of an MSA in Finance. John and his wife, Peggy, a nurse at Middlebury College, live in Weybridge with their two children.

Ted Dunakin was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Board. Ted is a Maintenance Project Manager in the Facilities Services Department at Middlebury College. Prior to that he was the Director of Planning and Zoning for the Town of Middlebury, working in that office for eight years where he oversaw development in both the public and private sector while overseeing the Planning Commission, Development Review Board, and Design Advisory Committee. Ted is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and received a Master of Studies in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School. He lives in Ripton with his wife, Lesley, and their two children.

Two additional board members were elected at the meeting:

Karen Beinhaur - Karen is a Registered Nurse and currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President of Patient Care Services at Porter Hospital. Karen has been a nurse for over 20 years and has worked in a variety of clinical settings in New Hampshire and Vermont. Karen is a seventh generation Vermonter and grew up in Vergennes. She is a member of the Vergennes Congregational Church, where her father is the minister. Karen lives in Shoreham with her husband, Sean, and their son Colby. She enjoys traveling and savoring the beauty of the outdoors.

Meg Storey Groves - Meg is the Associate Vice President for Alumni and Parent Programs at Middlebury College. Her work includes the oversight of major alumni and parent campus events, regional alumni programming, and the Middlebury Alumni Association Board. An East Asian Studies major at Middlebury, she also holds an MBA from The Tuck School at Dartmouth. Meg lives in Cornwall with her husband, Laurie. They have three children in various stages of leaving the nest.
