Local consultant joins national professional association

Alice Lissarrague of Shelburne has been accepted as an Associate Member of

the Independent Educational Consultants Association

The Independent Educational Consultants Association, (IECA),

today announced Alice Lissarrague of Shelburne has been accepted as an

associate member in the association. IECA associate members are

professionals in the process of transitioning to a career in educational

consulting. To qualify as an associate member, a consultant must have

established an educational consulting practice and have a minimum of one

year’s experience in educational placement, counseling, or admissions.

Alice Lissarrague has been an independent educational consultant since 2014.

Her office is located in Shelburne. Alice is a graduate of Smith College,

B.A. and Columbia University Teachers College, M.A. Alice is the college

guidance counselor at the Lake Champlain Waldorf High School, a position she

has held since 2011. For four years she was the Vermont Alumnae Admissions

Coordinator for Smith College. She is completing her final coursework in the

University of California’s, Los Angeles, College Counseling certificate

program and expects to graduate in December 2015. Alice works primarily with

students seeking support and guidance in the college admissions process,

including transfer students and students with learning disabilities.

The IECA was founded in 1976 as a nonprofit, professional association of

established educational consultants. IECA member educational consultants are

professionals who assist students and families with educational

decision-making. Their educational backgrounds, specialized training, campus

visitations, and professional experience equip them to help students choose

schools, colleges, or programs that meet their individual needs and goals.

Professional membership in the association requires an appropriate master’s

degree or comparable training and a minimum of three years of experience in

the profession, as well as meeting IECA’s professional standards and

subscribing to its Principles of Good Practice. Members continually update

their knowledge and maintain skills through IECA sponsored meetings,

workshops, training programs, and information exchanges with colleges,

schools, programs and other consultants.
