Hartford Municipal Building has ground breaking ceremony

The Town of Hartford recently held a ground breaking ceremony for renovations of the Hartford Municipal Building, located at 171 Bridge Street in White River Junction. Bread Loaf Corporation of Middlebury, Vermont is providing Integrated Project Management services for design and construction of a complete renovation of existing Town offices housed in the19th century school building. Construction began June 9th with completion expected in May 2015. The design features an open, transparent lobby that connects the Bridge Street side of the historic building with Lyman Park and associated parking. Municipal departments and public meeting rooms flank the lobby on each of the three floors above grade. The renovated building will be fully accessible with installation of a new elevator and other amenities. The Town worked diligently with Bread Loaf to create a highly efficient design that results in a “Net Zero” energy building. The renovated Municipal Building embraces its historic past while celebrating the modern era in which it is being reconstructed.
