ECS employees earn new certifications

Environmental Compliance Services, Inc. (ECS) announces Jaime Losch completed her Lead (paint) Inspector and Lead Risk Assessor training and Jeff Girard received his VT Class-B UST Systems Operator certification. Both are based in ECS’ Waterbury, VT office.

Ms. Losch is an Indoor Air Quality, Asbestos, and Lead Project Scientist. She currently works on Brownfields projects as well as demolition and renovation projects for warehouses, farms, abandoned sites, gas stations, auto shops, day care facilities, apartment buildings, and following natural disasters.

Ms. Losch passed a hands-on exam and two federal exams and is now a certified Lead Inspector and Lead Risk Assessor for the State of Vermont. She received the certification from the Vermont Department of Health-Asbestos and Lead Regulatory Program. Ms. Losch completed a five-day course for students to study and put into practice U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) protocols for inspecting facilities for lead coatings and for accessing hazards posed by lead. Ms. Losch learned the limits and uses of paint chip sampling and its analysis by atomic absorption as well as the principles of x-ray fluorescence (XRF) testing and how to use state-of-the-art XRF analyzers for field work. As a Lead Inspector and Lead Risk Assessor, Ms. Losch will practice the roles and responsibilities of inspectors and assessors, state certification procedures, inspection and assessment protocols.

Jeff Girard is a Senior Technician at ECS. He is currently responsible for emergency response services, collecting groundwater and soil samples, monitoring well installation oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, air sampling, project management, mentoring junior field technicians and much more. Mr. Girard passed the Class B Operator exam through the International Code Council (ICC) for the State of Vermont. This exam is based upon the regulations for underground storage tanks (USTs) in Vermont. With his Vermont Class-B UST Systems Operator Certification, Mr. Girard may implement applicable regulatory requirements, perform monthly inspections.
