Haley McGowan, DO, director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology Consult Program at the University of Vermont Medical Center, has been appointed medical director of the Child, Adolescent and Family Unit at the Vermont Department of Mental Health.
McGowan received a doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, completed her adult psychiatry residency at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine and trained as a child and adolescent psychiatry fellow at the University of Vermont. She currently serves as an assistant professor at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.
“Dr. McGowan comes to the Department of Mental Health with the experience and skills needed to meet Vermonters where they are while providing the highest level of care,” said Commissioner Emily Hawes. “Her collaborative approach to treatment and the empathy with which she works with her clients show that she will be an invaluable addition to the care management leadership team.”
