Each year Camp Ta-Kum-Ta takes a step back from our programming, construction and daily tasks to recognize some of our extraordinary volunteers who help make Camp TKT such an incredible place for children who have or have had cancer and their families. Camp Ta-Kum-Ta’s year-round programs are run solely by a committed group of approximately 115 volunteers, that gathers from across the country including former campers and others who just simply believe in our mission. This year, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta recognized three volunteers who have been incredible assets in helping us deliver our mission.
Brianna Atkins from Ormond Beach, FL & Winooski, VT is awarded Camp TKT’s Rising Star Award which is presented to a new volunteer who has shown exceptional dedication to the organization and has gone above and beyond all volunteer requirements. Brianna has shown her commitment to Camp by volunteering at many events throughout the year as well as several of our programs, and truly became a part of the camp family. She is always willing to do whatever they can for Camp and always is the first to recruit friends to join in on the fun.
Becca Sexton from North Hartland, VT is awarded Camp TKT’s Shooting Star Award which is given to a volunteer who has been with the organization for several years and can always be counted on and consistently goes beyond the expectations. Becca is always stepping up to make sure we are serving the needs of our campers and giving them an incredible camp experience. The dedication she shows to Camp, our kids, and their families, is limitless and her level of caring is endless. When recently asked to write a letter of support for Camp Ta-Kum-Ta to be included with a grant application, we, as staff, were truly honored by the words written by this individual about Camp Ta-Kum-Ta. We are so fortunate to have such dedication among our staff.
Dina Dattilio from Essex Jct., VT is awarded Camp TKT’s Shining Star Award which honors a volunteer who has dedicated many years to the organization. The recipient typically embodies the spirit of Camp Ta-Kum-Ta by working innumerable hours in many different capacities and has made our organization part of his/her life. Dina has worked endless hours researching programs amongst other Children’s Oncology camps and attending an annual conference to learn how to better our programs. As a dedicated board member, event participant, volunteer, and Programs Director, Dina’s hard work and efforts can be credited with the success of our programs.
