Joseph Strain, former attorney at Marsicovetere & Levine Law Group in White River Junction, and Beck Simpson, former assistant general counsel at the U.S. Department of Defense, have joined the New England law firm Primmer Piper Eggleston and Cramer.

Strain will serve as associate attorney in the firm’s litigation and insurance defense practice groups and work out of the Upper Valley office in Woodstock. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Vermont Law and Graduate School and serves as president of the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

“Joe brings with him significant courtroom experience as a criminal defense attorney, and we look forward to having him work on a broad array of civil matters for our clients throughout Vermont and New Hampshire,” said Primmer shareholder Richard Windish.

Simpson joined Primmer as of counsel and serves in the firm's health care and employment practice groups, working out of the Burlington office. He is a graduate of Mary Baldwin University in Stauntan, Virginia, and holds a law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a Master of Laws from The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School.

“Beck’s impressive career reflects a deep commitment to service, leadership and the pursuit of justice,” said Managing Director Shireen T. Hart. “His decade of experience as in-house counsel with the Department of Defense has equipped him with a sophisticated understanding of regulatory compliance, federal employment law and internal investigations — skills that will greatly benefit our clients.”
