2015 Exceptional Retiree Award winners announced

Equinox Village has announced the winners of the 2015 Exceptional Retiree Awards. This year’s recipients include Phebe Bell of Castleton for Excellence in Service & Community Leadership; Janice Pratt of Pownal for Excellence in Health & Wellness; Irene Nadler of Bondville for Excellence in Continued Scholarship; and Patricia Musick Carr and Gerald P. Carr of Manchester Center for Excellence in the Arts. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on Friday, May 29 at Equinox Village.

The Exceptional Retiree Awards honor retirees from Bennington, Rutland, Windsor and Windham Counties who are using their retirement in exemplary ways. Equinox Village CEO Kirt Sampson describes the significance of the awards and their mission. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to recognize seniors who continue to make a difference in our communities, by expanding relationships, learning new things, serving others and making significant intellectual and cultural contributions,” says Sampson. “Through this program Equinox Village and its community partners attempt to identify examples of individuals that can be followed into vibrant older age and to generate excitement for what can be the richest time in one’s life.”

Judges for this year’s awards included Dr. John DiBlasio, Founder and Owner of Prospect Rehabilitation & Cornerstone Fitness; Jennifer Weinstein, Esq., Executive Director of the Southern Vermont Arts Center; Dr. Mary F. Bisselle, Head of Maple Street School, and Marylou Morrisette, Founder/Owner of At Home Senior Care. The Keynote Speaker was Paula Maynard, Group and Press Director for Hildene, the Lincoln Family Home.
