Williston-Richmond Rotary donates to the Split the Ticket Program

The Williston-Richmond Rotary donated $2000 to the Split the Ticket Program. The fuel assistance fund was established by the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association more than two decades ago to provide a safety net during the cold winter months.

“The Williston Richmond Rotary has been one of the strongest supporters of this innovative and important heating assistance effort,” said VFDA Executive Director Matt Cota.

Thanks to the generosity of Vermont businesses and organizations, VFDA’s Split the Ticket program provided more than 5000 gallons of free heating fuel this past winter. The generous contribution from the Williston-Richmond Rotary ensures the program will hit the ground running when the weather turns cold this winter. Vermont’s home energy providers are mostly small, family-owned businesses. They are often the first to respond in a crisis, especially when the family is unaware or unable to receive government assistance — or is simply too proud to ask for help.
