Vermont Coalition of Clinics for the Uninsured appoints new executive director

The Vermont Coalition of Clinics for the Uninsured (VCCU) would like to announce that Laura Hale of Burlington, Vermont has been selected as their new Executive Director. Laura comes with a wealth of experience in the nonprofit world and has worked with community groups of all sizes.

Laura joins the VCCU to support the work of its ten member programs, including five clinics that provide onsite health care, five programs that refer for health care, and four free dental clinics. Laura says “I am excited to start a new challenge with the VCCU and look forward to working as a team with the members to increase access to health care for low income uninsured and underinsured Vermont residents. I am fortunate to be joining such a respected organization that provides so many necessary services to Vermonters. I am astonished at the work that the VCCU does.” Membership objectives include working together to address common issues and problems, and to communicate with community partners and service providers.

Patricia Field, President of the VCCU board said “Laura’s wealth of experience and knowledge will be a key addition to the VCCU member organizations and those they serve. We view her appointment as a sign of our commitment to doing all that we can to assure access to a broad range of health care services to all Vermont residents. Our members have continued to adjust to the changing healthcare environment in order to be part of the solution in providing healthcare to all Vermonters.”

Formed in 1995, the VCCU is a 501(c)3 organization whose purpose is to increase access to health care for low income uninsured and underinsured Vermont residents. The VCCU supports the work of its ten member programs: the Bennington Free Clinic, the Health Assistance Program at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, the Good Neighbor Health Clinic and Red Logan Dental Clinic in White River Junction, Health Connections at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, the Open Door Clinic in Middlebury, People’s Health and Wellness Clinic in Barre, Putney Community Health Connections, the Rutland Free Clinic, Valley Health Connections in Springfield, and the Windsor Community Health Clinic .
