UVM student awarded scholarship for aspiring journalists

Charlotte Oliver

Charlotte Oliver, a rising senior at the University of Vermont, has been awarded a coveted scholarship for aspiring journalists from the New England Newspaper and Press Association. This honor, bestowed through the association's Journalism Education Foundation of New England, aims to support and foster young talent pursuing careers in journalism.

Oliver is majoring in international/global studies, with a double minor in Spanish and reporting and documentary storytelling. This summer, she is working as a reporter for the Community News Service, a hands-on journalism program based at UVM that gives students the opportunity to report and write for news outlets across Vermont.

"I'm overjoyed that in my last year of college I have the opportunity to meet more people, hear their stories and get better at writing them for the news," Oliver said. "This scholarship will help me to become a better journalist and do the things I love."
