Mayor's Cup "Spirit" Award first recipient revealed

The inaugural 2010 "Spirit" award was presented to WIRY Radio's very own, Bob Pooler, in front of a packed Mayor's Cup crowd. Possessing a positive and caring community “spirit," Bob consistently portrays a “Community Does Matter” attitude - in his own unassuming way - every day.

The new award was initiated to honor the late Mayor John Ianelli, one of the founders of this historic 33-year old community event, and recognizes one individual – sailor or landlubber – who represents a “community does matter” spirit and attitude... the same spirit that inspired Mayor Ianelli to help bring Mayor‘s Cup to our community.

Sunrise Rotary and the City of Plattsburgh plan to present an annual "Spirit" award as part of the Mayor's Cup celebration. The recipient of the Ianelli Spirit Award will be determined each year by the current City of Plattsburgh Mayor and Organizer of the Mayor’s Cup Regatta. This year's recipient was hand selected by Plattsburgh Mayor Donald Kasprzak and Kjell Dahlen, Sunrise Rotarian and Mayor's Cup Co-chair.
