Local resident launches new solar power company

Businessman and Charlotte, Vermont resident Gregg Beldock has launched a new solar development company working on projects across New England. Beldock, CEO of the Shelburne-based Bullrock Corporation, has partnered with Deutsche Eco, a leading German solar company, to create Bullrock Deutsche-Eco Solar.

“I see a tremendous opportunity in the solar arena for both our environment and the business community,” Beldock said of the new enterprise. “When I met with Deutsche Eco they immediately impressed me with their solar expertise, dedication and 17-year history in solar development and technology,” he said. “Now that we’re working together we are uniquely positioned to offer the construction and land development experience of the Bullrock Corporation with the solar expertise of Deutsche Eco.”

The newly combined company just completed the installation of the largest solar carport in New England for the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven, located in Woodbridge, Connecticut. The 850-kilowatt solar field carport consists of five canopies that cover 52,000 square feet of parking. Beldock sees this project as a portent of things to come. “Parking areas are being turned into productive and utilitarian space, while providing electricity for thousands of homes and businesses,” Beldock said.

He said his new company is “now able to offer a fully integrated solar solution from the development phase through construction, installation, monitoring and maintenance. We have 100 megawatts of solar on our plate in 2015 and we have brought to the American solar market software and technology that allows for optimization and management not seen before in this country.”

Gregg Beldock graduated in 1979 from Berkshire School and went on to graduate from the University of Vermont. Gregg and his wife Beth live on a large working farm in Charlotte, VT.
