John Oliver appointed interim principal at Burlington’s Edmunds School

John Oliver, former director of community education initiatives at Centerpoint, an adolescent treatment services provider in Winooski and South Burlington, has been named interim principal at Edmunds Middle School in Burlington. He begins his new duties the week of July 17.

Oliver has spent the last 18 years as an educator and administrator in Vermont. Prior to his current position at Centerpoint, he served for five years as house leader and five years as counseling teacher at Centerpoint School in Winooski.

Oliver is a graduate of Middlebury College and holds a masters in English language and literature/letters from Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English.

“I’m really excited to welcome a leader who has been and continues to be deeply committed to the city of Burlington and the students and families in the city,” said Burlington School District Superintendent Tom Flanagan. “I believe his knowledge, experience and deep connections to our community will be an asset to EMS and our district, and I am happy to have him on board.”
