Comcast has announced that Jan Underhill has been named Director of Comcast University for the company’s Western New England Region, which includes more than 300 communities in Vermont, Connecticut, New York, Western Massachusetts and Western New Hampshire. Comcast University is the company’s internal employee training and development organization.
In this role, Underhill will oversee all aspects of Comcast University’s operations, supporting the more than 1,700 employees in the region.
“Jan brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new position,” said Mary McLaughlin, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Western New England Region. “Her strong leadership combined with her proven track record of effective management make her the ideal leader to oversee our Comcast University operations in the region.”
Underhill has been with Comcast for 30 years, joining the company in 1985 as a technician in the Boston area and holding many other roles, including serving as a dispatcher, customer care representative, and customer care manager. Since moving to Comcast University in 1990, she has led training efforts that have supported billing conversions, integrations, and career path implementations.
Underhill has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Massachusetts and a MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. She is in the process of completing a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Performance Improvement. In her spare time, Underhill enjoys kayaking and golf, which includes coordinating an annual charity golf tournament that benefits research at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and honors Lori Hudson, a Comcast employee who lost her battle with cancer in 2011.
