Kristin Hubert, former superintendent of the Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union, has been appointed director of the Vermont Student Assistance Corp.'s GEAR UP outreach program. She succeeds Dianne Griggs, who retired.

GEAR UP, an acronym for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, works in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education to enhance college and career readiness for high school students across Vermont.

“Kristin brings in-depth experience in public education in Vermont,” said VSAC President and CEO Scott Giles. “Her passion for supporting student success and working with teachers as an instructional leader will benefit VSAC’s nationally recognized outreach staff and programming, as well as VSAC as a whole.”

Hubert has served as superintendent of RNESU, a preK-12 public school system comprising the communities of Brandon, Chittenden, Goshen, Leicester, Mendon, Pittsford, Sudbury and Whiting, for the past two years. She also is on faculty of the VTSU-Castleton Principal Preparation Program and in the Transformative School Leadership doctoral program at Northeastern University.
