Hospital diagnostic services director appointed to State Board

North Country Hospital's very own Brian Bidwell has been appointed by Governor Peter Shumlin to the six-member state Board of Radiologic Technology. In this capacity, he participates in legislative oversight and judicial review of issues and events in the field of Radiologic Technology in the State of Vermont.

“It is truly an honor to have been appointed by Governor Shumlin to the Board of Radiologic Technology,” Brian said. “It provides me with reaffirmation that my skills, knowledge, and experience are recognized and appreciated by decision makers in my field.”

Brian is the Director of Diagnostic Imaging Services at North Country. He arrived at the hospital in September 2008, bringing with him a wealth of experience in many facets of diagnostic imaging, and a graduate degree in Hospital Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Since arriving at North Country, Brian has earned a reputation for his progressive approach to technology and patient safety and comfort. Among the technological advances during his tenure has been high speed, multi-slice CT Scanning and in house 5 days/week high resolution MRI scanning, both include vascular imaging capabilities; fan beam Bone Mineral Density studies with Fracture Risk Assessment; high resolution Ultrasound scanning with 3D imagery; and PET (positron emission tomography) scanning for cancer detection. This increased focused on technology now allows many patients to receive much of their diagnostic imaging services they'd otherwise have to travel out of town to receive.
