At the Commencement Ceremony held at Basin Harbor in Vergennes on June 1st Champlain College Vice President of Student Affairs and Institutional Diversity and Inclusion Dr. Angela Batista congratulated the class on their rite of passage from the Vermont Leadership Institute and encouraged them to take action and exercise all they have learned in their continuing efforts to create change and strengthen Vermont through their own unique experiences and purposes.

Now entering its 25th year, the Vermont Leadership Institute (VLI) fosters ethical and transformative leadership, drawing on expert faculty from within Vermont and beyond, to create a learning environment that challenges participants to develop self-awareness and acquire knowledge and skills that result in strong and effective leadership. Over the course of eight sessions totaling nineteen seminar days between September 2018 and June, the Class of 2019 covered topics including but not limited to cultural competency, systems thinking, appreciative inquiry and public policy.

As the 24th graduating class of the Vermont Leadership Institute, the Class of 2019 joins a professional network of over 1000 Vermont Leadership Network alumni, including more than 550 VLI graduates who are positively influence Vermont’s future in business, public policy, education, community development and a wide range of volunteer and non-profit sector roles.
