Attorneys David Carpenter and Jeremy Grant have joined Downs Rachlin Martin, a northern New England law firm, as of counsel. Carpenter will focus on energy and environmental law, while Grant will specialize in labor and employment law. Both will be based at DRM's Burlington office.

Carpenter comes to DRM from the renewable energy developer Green Lantern Development, where he served as vice president of development and chief legal officer. Prior to that, he worked in several law firms in Vermont, New York and Massachusetts and served as associate general counsel at Casella Waste Systems.

Carpenter is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and holds a Master of Studies in Environmental Law and a law degree from Vermont Law and Graduate School.

“We are excited to welcome David to our dynamic team,” said Tim Sampson, chair of DRM’s complex development and land use group. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective that will further strengthen our ability to serve clients navigating the rapidly evolving energy sector and complex environmental regulations.”

Grant joins DRM from Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer, where he served as employment partner. Prior to practicing in Vermont, he was an associate at Eaton Peabody in Bangor, Maine.

Grant is a graduate of Bates College and earned a law degree from Boston University School of Law.

“Jeremy’s experience representing employers will significantly benefit our team,” said Beth Rattigan, chair of DRM’s labor and employment group. “His knowledge, energy and familiarity with the local market will strengthen our ability to counsel clients and tackle the multifaceted challenges of employment law across northern New England and surrounding areas.”
