Burlington City Arts is pleased to announce DJ Hellerman as the new BCA Center Curator. DJ replaces outgoing Curator Chris Thompson beginning August 1st, 2012.
Since 2005, DJ Hellerman has worked for The Progressive Art Collection in Cleveland, Ohio. He studied Modern and Contemporary Art at Case Western Reserve University where he graduated with a master’s degree in Art History in 2009. As part of his role at Progressive, DJ co-curated group exhibitions at several locations in the Cleveland area, including the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, and the Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art. In 2010, DJ brought video art selections from the Progressive collection to The Champlain Valley Fair in Essex Junction, VT. In addition, DJ holds committee positions at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage and teaches art and literature courses at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. He loves live music and literature as much as he enjoys visual art.
“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome DJ Hellerman to the Vermont community. As curator, he will delight the community of curious and critical minds with his many talents and passion for contemporary art,” says Burlington City Arts Executive Director Doreen Kraft.
The BCA Center is an important part of Burlington City Arts, celebrating 30 years of supporting the arts, 1981-2011, which is dedicated to the promotion of excellence, experimentation, and education in all forms of contemporary art.
