Vermont Mutual Insurance Group, a property and casualty insurer based in Montpelier, has hired Samuel Hopkins (pictured) as vice president and chief information officer and promoted Director of Research and Development Joshua Wykle to the newly created position of vice president of strategy and innovation.
Hopkins joins Vermont Mutual from Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he served as vice president and senior director of technology. He is a graduate of Husson University in Bangor, Maine.
"Sam’s strategic leadership and hands-on approach to technology aligns with our collaborative and continuous improvement culture," said President and CEO Dan Bridge. "We are excited to have him join the senior team at Vermont Mutual and lead a talented and committed IT organization."
As part of the senior management team, Wykle's new position will expand to include many strategic and operational aspects within the company.
"Josh's influence and contributions have been exceptional, impacting just about every corner of the company," said Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mark McDonnell. "In addition to the many innovative tools and efficiency gains Josh and team have delivered throughout the organization, his input on some of our most challenging business problems has proven to be invaluable."
