Vermont Conservation Voters, a statewide organization that works to elect environmentally friendly candidates to public office, has named Dan Fingas as its new executive director, effective Jan. 6. He succeeds Lauren Hierl, who began work in August as executive director of the Vermont Natural Resources Council, a strategic partner of VCV.
Fingas, former climate action coordinator at the VNRC, brings to his new role experience in advocacy, electoral campaigns, organizing and working in diverse organizations. In addition to his work experience, he serves on the Plainfield Selectboard and as president of Plainfield Arts. Fingas is a graduate of Albion College in Michigan.
“We are excited about the depth and breadth of Dan’s organizing and leadership experience,” said Kelly Coleman, chair of the VCV Board of Directors.
Added Hierl, “Dan is a collaborative leader with a strong track record of bringing Vermonters together to create meaningful change. VCV is in excellent hands as we navigate a challenging political climate and work to elect strong leaders and advocate for policies that will create a healthier and more resilient Vermont.”
