University of Vermont Medical Center has elected retired insurance executive Scott Boardman and veteran clinical leader and educator Dr. Donald Mathews to its 20-member volunteer board of trustees.
Boardman worked for the Hickok and Boardman Insurance Group for 40 years, serving as president and an insurance broker, before retiring in February 2023. He currently serves on the boards of PC Construction, Norfolk & Dedham/Union Mutual Insurance Co. and A.N. Deringer.
Mathews joined UVM Medical Center in 2010 as director of the anesthesiology residency program and led the planning process that incorporated primary care internal medicine into the academic department of medicine. He also served as chair of anesthesiology at University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine from 2017 to 2020.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Mathews and Mr. Boardman to the UVM Medical Center Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Stephen Leffler, president and chief operating officer of UVM Medical Center. “Their perspectives, insight and diverse backgrounds will be invaluable assets as we continuously strive to deliver exceptional care and improve the health of communities throughout our region.”
