GeoDesign, Inc. announced that Shawn P. Kelley, Ph.D., Jacob F. Wimett, and Joshua D. Gilman recently became licensed Professional Engineers in the State of Vermont. Dr. Kelley is an associate and shareholder in the firm and Messrs. Wimett and Gilman are engineers with GeoDesign.
The three engineers are based in GeoDesign’s Windsor, VT office and specialize in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering. Services provided include deep and shallow foundation design, earth retention and slope stabilization projects and in-situ soil testing, among others.
To obtain their licenses, Kelley, Wimett, and Gilman had to meet education requirements, provide several reference letters, and pass two 8-hour long exams, which consist of problem solving questions that require the application of science and engineering principles, among other qualifications.
Kelley, originally from Scituate, MA, holds BS, MS, PhD degrees in civil and geotechnical engineering from the University of Massachusetts. Wimett, originally from Brandon, VT, earned his BS degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University in 2003. Gilman grew up in Wallingford, VT and graduated from Norwich University in 2008 with a BS degree in civil engineering and a minor in mathematics.
Established in 1995, GeoDesign (www.geodesign.net, Constructible Innovation) with offices in Vermont, Connecticut and New York, is a privately held engineering consulting firm that completes geotechnical projects, construction engineering services, and environmental investigation and remediation projects throughout the Northeast for private clients, industry, developers, contractors and municipalities.
