Southern Vermont College admissions director invited to join enrollment leadership academy

Jeremy Gibbons, Director of Admissions at Southern Vermont College, has been selected to participate in the Enrollment Leadership Academy (ELA), a new professional development program formed by the New England Regional Office of the College Board. The ELA is a year-long program focused on leadership skills, enrollment management issues and development of the next generation of enrollment leaders.

Gibbons was selected with 15 others from New England to join the ELA, in addition to the recognition of his hard work, dedication and potential. “The ELA will provide me with additional skills and connect me with colleagues across New England as we teach each other and learn from others about enrollment management,” said Gibbons. “I’m honored to have been selected for this program and look forward to bring what I learn back to SVC.”

For five years, Gibbons has been working in the Admissions Office at Southern Vermont College, starting as an assistant director, then associate director and eventually earning the position as director. He is co-chair of the Consortium of Vermont Colleges Bus Tour Committee, an organization that promotes higher education in Vermont. In early 2011, Gibbons was a presenter at the Admissions Committee Workshop at the Consortium of Vermont Colleges’ 12th Annual Vermont School and Admissions Counselors’ Workshop.

In May 2010, he received the Outstanding Service Award at Southern Vermont College. Currently, Gibbons is a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling and the National Association for College Admission Counseling, and he has been a member of the New England Transfer Association.

Gibbons received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Castleton State College and is currently enrolled part time in the Master of Science program in Higher Education Administration at Bay Path College.
