Executive Director Leisa Pollander is happy to announce that Margie Kehr has joined its Board of Directors. “I am excited to have Margie join the Center's board. Her commitment to children, families, and the greater community will serve the Sara Holbrook Center well. Already fully engaged in fundraising events planning, she has hit the ground running!” Kehr earned a B.S. in Marketing and Information Technology at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce. She has been employed at Dealer.com in Burlington for the past nine years and is currently a Lead Quality Assurance Analyst in Software Testing. Before Dealer.com, Kehr was the Field House and Playspace Manager at The Edge Sports & Fitness in Williston. She also volunteers regularly as a Meal Assistant at the UVM Health Network Respite House in Colchester.
"I am thrilled and honored to serve on the SHCC Board,” said Kehr. “I believe my passion for community service and helping others can be well spent here. Furthermore, I have truly enjoyed the volunteer work I’ve done centered around helping and supporting children. They are our future—we need to continually invest in them, and provide them with tools they need to succeed. I believe in Sara Holbrook Community Center’s mission to support our community’s children and their families in multiple ways, and look forward to rolling up my sleeves and doing all I can.”
Now in its 82nd year, the Sara Holbrook Community provides support and programs for children and families through education, afterschool care, and summer educational and recreational programs. Annually it serves over 1,100 children through its preschool, after school enrichment programs, ESL summer school, adventure camp programs, and its teen center. The Center also offers English classes for adults and children, and emergency food assistance. The Center has two locations- 66 North Ave in the Old North End of Burlington and 130 Gosse Court in the New North End of Burlington. All the Center's programs are free or low-cost.
