Local small business owner, Paul Ralston, who previously served two terms in the Vermont Legislature, has created a new radio program which will commence on WDEV on (this Thursday) January 21st from 1-2 PM. “I’m trying to decide if I should run for office,” he said, “and if so, which office.”
WDEV’s Ken Squier said “The Reluctant Politician” is one of the most original concepts for a news talk radio format we have come across”.
“The program format will help citizens learn about running for an elected position and hear from people willing to share their political and economic experience in running for office.” said Ralston.
Eric Michaels, Vice President of the Radio Vermont Group, commented “We want to encourage more people to run for office whether dog catcher or President.”
Ralston, a Middlebury business man said “The election season started very early in Vermont and interested folks have plenty of time before May 26th, the filing deadline to enter the race. Ralston added, “Campaign financing and rules are things we’ll try to explain”.
WDEV, a locally owned and operated Vermont radio station, wants to encourage more people to get involved. “This program will be interesting and fun and dare we say educational” said Squier. “Vermont is small; one person can really make a difference.” “It’s a place where anyone can run for office and get elected”, concluded Ralston. “Look at Bernie, from mayor to candidate for President of the United States.”
The Reluctant Politician can be heard on WDEV FM 96.1 and WDEV AM 550 and translators 96.5 in Barre and 101.9 in the Kingdom Thursdays at 1 PM.
