The University of Vermont recently held its annual celebration and recognition of entrepreneurship and family businesses. Three awards were given out to recognize UVM alumni or Vermont family based businesses that have overcome the challenges of succession from one generation to the next to achieve long lasting success. The Galfetti and Zecchinelli families of the Wayside Restaurant in Montpelier received the Vermont Legacy Achievement Award.
“Each winner has an inspiring story underscored by sustained business success in highly competitive markets” said Dr Pramodita Sharma, of the School of Business Administration. “Good old fashioned hard work and strong community involvement are smartly combined with innovative approaches to stay at the leading edge of their industries.”
