Dartmouth-Hitchcock names John Malanowski as new chief human resources officer

John S. Malanowski of Appleton, WI, will be the new Chief Human Resources Officer at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, beginning on February 3.

With more than 30 years of experience in companies such as Fidelity, Raytheon, and Kimberly-Clark, Malanowski “has demonstrated his ability to design and implement innovative strategies in areas such as team and leadership development, incentive plan design, and organizational change management,” said Dartmouth-Hitchcock CEO and President Dr. James N. Weinstein, in making the announcement of Malanowski’s appointment.

Malanowski was most recently the vice president, human resources for Kimberly-Clark’s $10 billion North American consumer and European operating units. From 2011-13, he also served as vice chair of the board of trustees for ThedaCare, Inc., the top-ranked community health system in Wisconsin and a leader in delivering value-based care. ThedaCare employs 6,100 physicians and staff in five hospitals and 22 physician locations, serving 150,000 patients in a nine-county region in northeast Wisconsin.

“As vice chair of the ThedaCare Board of Trustees, John impressed Dartmouth-Hitchcock leaders and trustees with his knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing health care,” Weinstein said. “John’s innovative thinking, deep experience, knowledge, and team-oriented approach will be invaluable.”

“I consider it a privilege to work with a national leader in health care, health reform, research, and education,” Malanowski said. “Dartmouth-Hitchcock is where it is because of its dedicated and talented employees. I look forward to applying my skills to make their work experience at Dartmouth-Hitchcock the best it can be.”

Malanowski is a 1979 graduate of the State University of New York College at Buffalo, and earned a master’s degree in labor and industrial relations at Michigan State University in 1981.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock is a national leader in patient-centered health care and building a sustainable health system. Founded in 1893, the system includes New Hampshire's only Level 1 trauma center and its only air ambulance service, as well as the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, one of only 41 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation, and the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the state's only Children's Hospital Association-approved, comprehensive, full-service children's hospital.
