William H. Baumann Named 2010 Vermont Engineer of the Year

DuBois & King, Inc., consulting engineers announced that William H. Baumann, Jr., P.E., has been selected by a jury of peers from Vermont’s engineering societies as the 2010 Vermont Engineer of the Year. As part of Engineers Week, Governor Jim Douglas will present the award to Mr. Baumann at the State House on Tuesday, February 16. Mr. Baumann will also be recognized at the annual Engineers Week Banquet to be held at *the Sheraton Hotel, in Burlington on February 19. The coveted award recognizes exemplary talent, effort, and involvement in the engineering profession and in the community.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of Vermont (ACEC/VT) nominated Mr. Baumann on the quality and depth of his professional work, volunteerism in his community, and his efforts in advancing the field of engineering. Mr. Baumann, a graduate of Norwich University, began working at DuBois & King in 1969 and was named President and CEO of the firm in 1985 and served in that capacity until 2007.

Mr. Baumann is a licensed professional engineer in seven states and has 43 years of professional experience in the design of water and wastewater facilities, municipal infrastructure, industrial, and building projects throughout New England, New York and in the Caribbean. His project work has earned numerous awards for engineering excellence.

Currently at DuBois & King, Mr. Baumann is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Principal-In-Charge. He provides senior engineering leadership and mentoring to younger engineers and technical staff and is in responsible charge of selected building and municipal infrastructure projects. Mr. Baumann lives in Randolph, Vermont and works in the firm's Randolph office.
