Vermont Captive Insurance Association, the largest captive membership association in the world, has chosen Kevin Mead as its next president, effective Feb 22. He will succeed Richard Smith, who successfully led the organization for 12 years.
Mead brings a wealth of association management and financial tact to VCIA, having engineered a merger of three global independent accounting associations and forming PrimeGlobal, which represented 2,000 partners and 14,000 employees in 90-plus countries. He then facilitated rapid membership and revenue growth, increasing the net income 25%, from $2 billion to $2.5 billion for PrimeGlobal.
After PrimeGlobal, he was vice president of resource development for Spokane County United Way, the biggest charity in the world, and most recently was executive director of a rare disease foundation. He raised over $3 million for United Way, and while in the rare disease space, won international grants for the foundation supporting patients, most notably in Kenya.
“We are thrilled to have found someone whose experience and approach perfectly aligns to the continued development of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association as it represents and promotes the interests of its members,” said VCIA board chair Andrew Baillie. “We are confident that Kevin’s broad experience will be very complementary to that of the experienced staff of VCIA.”
