Saint Michael’s names new Director of Business Services

Saint Michael’s College has named a new director of business services, Rob Robinson of Essex Junction. The announcement was made by Neal Robinson, vice president for Finance, on February 16th, effective immediately.

Rob Robinson had been serving as Saint Michael’s associate director of finance since September of 2007, and before that was an IT consultant in the Corporate Financial Systems Center of Excellence at IBM from December 2000 to September 2007. He previously worked for eight years, 1991 to 1999, with Banknorth Group as an assistant vice president in the financial systems area.

In his new job, Rob Robinson will be in charge of outside business relationships within the business of the college—purchasing, contract administration, college insurance programs, and will have oversight of the college bookstore, mailroom and print shop, and provide support for financial systems in the Finance office.

“I hope to be able to maximize the value of these functions within the college for the betterment of the entire institution,” Robinson said. “I want to make sure Saint Michael’s has solid contractual relationships.”

“I love Saint Michael’s,” said Robinson, a 1991 graduate of the college. “When I returned in 2007, it was a chance to come home.” Robinson is also a graduate of the 2010 class of Leadership Champlain. He is an avid cyclist and skier, and a volunteer mountain bike trail builder in Chittenden County with the Fellowship of the Wheel. A Saint Michael’s varsity lacrosse player, 1988-1991, Robinson is now a parent volunteer for Essex Youth Lacrosse, serving as a coach and program administrator.
